Borås City is in an expansive phase with several exciting development projects within the community building process where the Community Building Administration plays a central role.

The administration currently consists of about 115 employees and operates in areas such as building permits, detailed planning, measurement, map production, strategic community planning, land and exploitation, as well as environmental and climate issues. The administration also has two support functions, the finance function and the HR function. With more than 114,000 residents, Borås is the thirteenth largest municipality in the country and is large enough to offer a wide range of entertainment, culture, and services. At the same time, everything is within comfortable distance. The good location and the university in the city make it attractive for both residents and businesses. With well-developed public transport, Borås is connected to Gothenburg and Jönköping, creating a labor market region. Much positive development has occurred in Borås, but many significant challenges remain that the Community Building Administration has an important role in addressing.

As a cartographer and measurement engineer, you will belong to the geodata department of the Community Building Administration. The geodata department consists of three operational areas: maps, measurements, and GIS/IT, and manages geographic information used throughout the community building process. Our clients are Borås City’s administrations and municipal companies, as well as businesses and citizens in the municipality.

Cartographer and Measurement Engineer

As a cartographer and measurement engineer, you will have a versatile and extensive role, where you are responsible for the entire process from receiving orders, conducting measurements, producing maps, and creating invoice documentation for clients. In map production, you will handle orders and produce building permit maps, new construction maps, and base maps. Your measurement tasks will include preparing and processing measurements for base and new construction maps, performing staking and position checks in the field, and continuously updating the municipality's base map. In the measurement group, you will work with equipment from various manufacturers. There are also good opportunities to use modern remote sensing methods such as photogrammetry, drone flights, and laser scanning. You will play an active role in shaping the development of the cartography and measurement operations and participate in our ongoing dialogue on how best to integrate new technology into our work.

Interviews are scheduled to be held during week 8.

We are looking for someone with an academic background in measurement, GIS, or cartography, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Experience working in a politically governed organization and with municipal MBK (measurement, calculation, map production) is considered an advantage.

You have good communication skills and find it easy to communicate in both spoken and written Swedish. You thrive in a role with many internal and external contacts and easily build good relationships. As a person, you are meticulous, service-oriented, and unpretentious. You are independent but also a good team player. You have an interest in geodata and like to follow developments in the industry.

The position requires a B driver's license as measurement assignments are largely carried out in the field throughout the year.

It is advantageous if you have knowledge and experience with one or more of the following systems:

·Nova

·BAL

·ArcGIS

You need to have current experience in measurement with total stations and GNSS. It is particularly advantageous if you have experience with one or more of the following instrument manufacturers:

·Leica

·Topcon

·Trimble
